Nibbles of various sorts – These are from past feasts and potlucks. We would have been choosing from the set.

So that you know, pickles of various sorts, fermented and un-fermented both, were a common way all through period to preserve fresh vegetables (and meats!) for the winter. They keep essential vitamins in ways that dried and even “root-cellared” do not! Cheese and butter are another way to keep milk, and there are various sauces, relishes and jams that serve the same purpose.
