This month was all holidays and events! Tymberhavene’s Yule, 12th Night and then Adiantum’s Mid-Winter Feast were attended by 1 or more members. There wasn’t as much of the usual project stuff happening because of cooking, packing and unpacking.
If you want to come to our Winter Feast on 2/17, please
contact us through this newsletter or on Facebook. We have to have RSVP’s by 2/10, since the last shopping will happen on 2/11! This is a free, non-official event. There will be a donation can sitting out to help defray costs. It’s working out to about $13 per person this year, counting hall and food.
Some projects are ongoing. Anja’s embroidery went into a band for a Laurel vigilant and some sewing into figuring out a tissue cover pattern that will be embroidered. Loren was working on bone carving, mostly. Amy did some more lucet cords for largesse. Jay has been working on recipes …and there was lots of 12th Night sewing and cooking, especially since Anja contributed quite a bit to Seamus’ vigil.

The Herb Bunch was busy, despite the craziness of the holidays. We have several trays of plant starts that are going to the Seed Swap that Eleanor is organizing at Summits A&S, plus there’s a batch of wood butter for largesse and a lot of herb prep, catching up on last fall’s (now dried) harvest.

Stella’s been busy with her music, Sasha has been working long hours, Brandon has a new job, Gudrun a new home and job and Amor has been deployed, so we’re not expecting to hear much from them for awhile. None of them, but Sasha & Stella will make it for the feast.
Lots of recipes showed up this month for various reasons, from Mushroom Catsup to some of the feast soups! Anja’s tvarog was entered in a competition at Mid-Winter Feast and was well-received and mostly consumed. …and we finished up with a potluck, of course.
This coming month we’re going to be focusing on our Winter Feast. There’s a lot of cookery and organizing to do, so there will be lots of that in our reports!

Moving was the big deal this month, as both Gudrun, and Anja and Loren were deep in the throes of it by the end of the month. Hopefully, next month will be easier…. once the mess is cleaned up….
Crown and Coronet were both amazing. Hail to the Heirs! …and between the two, Summits is going to have three new Laurels: Marya at Tri-Baronial Yule (yeah, we share her with the Tri-Barony area), Seamus at 12th Night, and Vesta will be next after that! The other big news is that Mountain’s Edge has now become a part of the Summits!

It’s been quieter for the House this month. Most people out here on the coast are up to their ears in work, with the tourist season in full swing, and mostly everyone is too tired to do much. There are still ongoing projects and we did have a good potluck, but next month should see things picking up a little, especially since some displays are going to Shrewsbury and largesse to the Principality.

Somehow we skipped one of these monthly posts, so I’ll fill in from back that far! …and there’s a lot here.
We were very sad during these last weeks because of the deaths of Jeanne (Friend of the House), and His Royal Highness Titus Scipio Germanicus of Aethelmearc, among others, and three House members moved very far away.
We were very happy during these last weeks because we got to spend time with Clarisse (Friend of the House), got to see the pictures and hear of the knighting of Helga in West Kingdom, and got to talk to members of the Starfollower Consort about coming out here for our Winter Feast. Amor and Gogor checked in and told us about projects and we’ve talked to three new people!
The Herb Bunch and our cooks were drying herbs for cooking, harvesting greens, cow parsnip for dye, hops for beer or sleep pillows and ferns, and starting roses, geraniums and succulents. A Hedeby bag frame was created and some spoons finished, plus Amor showed off his obsidian knapping and the tools for it. Anja’s pouch project got finished, the blackworked shirts were worn and a page created about them, a ball got stitched along with some baby things and a lovely (mudane) dress that Isabeau did.
For most of us this was a quiet month. We have a couple of new people playing with us, (Nick, Taylor and baby Rosie) who will soon be gone again, since family circumstances are taking them elsewhere. The tourist season is ramping up and that means that Anja and Loren are getting busier and busier. Isabeau has a mundane sewing
commission that is eating her time and job things are getting Amy and Sasha. Jay tried to make it to the potluck, had a ride and all, and then wham, it fell apart on him again. We didn’t hear much from the farther away members this month, but tourney season is starting.

We’re on the new schedule for posting, so this is a little early. We’re going to be trying to have these notes come out after the monthly potluck, regularly. Every week the reports post to the House Page and the Summits group on Facebook. You can always check back here for the newest information!
